On 18 June 2026, GMAC held its special monthly meeting in Beijing, officially announcing a new board of directors under incoming Chairman John Johnson, ex-CRU China CEO).

Special GMAC Monthly Meeting, hosted by new Chairman John Johnson, featured a “barroom chat” between outgoing Chairman Peter Arkell and Reuters correspondent Lewis Jackson. The discussion reflected on GMAC’s history, growth, and impact since 2011; celebrated Peter Arkell’s leadership in building GMAC into a leading international mining association in China, and highlighted GMAC’s partnerships, research, training programs, and industry events. The meeting also marked the transition to a new chapter of leadership while recognising Peter’s lasting legacy.
